Why rivers?
The impact of climate change on rivers does not only affect the direct access to clean water for thousands of people.
Approximately 70% of all water withdrawn from rivers, lakes and aquifers is used for irrigation. Rising temperatures have a direct impact on decreasing river flows, making many fields and forests drier and consequently also the surrounding aquifers.
The Nactiva Water program hosts projects that seek the regeneration of watersheds, rivers and aquifers, as well as the recovery of fresh renewable water.
