Rafael Sardá

Rafael Sardá is Research Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (www.csic.es) and Associate Professor in the Department of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences at ESADE Business School (www.esade.edu) both since 1991. Co-founder of the Business and the Environment group of the Global Alliance of Business Schools (CEMS) (www.cems.org) where he is a lecturer. He develops research and applications at the boundary between social and ecological systems, how they function and interact, how to deal with present and emerging local and global environmental problems, and the role, if any, that science and regulation might play in it. Author of around 200 research papers, most of them peer-reviewed, and of the book “Corporate Sustainability in the 21st Century: increasing the resilience of social-ecological systems” (Sardá & Pogutz, Routledge-2019). Responsible leader or co-leader in more than 20 national and international research projects. Director of 12 PhD Theses. Represents CSIC in international expert group consultations on coastal and marine research issues, as well as in policy development.
